 Ricardo from Avondale

(Speical Event Page Graphics) SuperDadRicardo091707-317.jpg"I would like to nominate my husband, Ricardo S., for the Super Dad of the month. My husband works in Mesa six days a week and must leave our home in Avondale at 4:00 am each morning to get there by 5:30 am. He works til 5:30 every day then drives home and grabs his gear and heads out to the park to coach our sons' football teams. We have four boys. He has coached for NYS league football and all the boys on his teams just love him. He practices long hours and never complains! He also still has time for our daughter, Nikki, too. She is four going on forty and a real handful! On top of all of this, he plays with the children in my home daycare when he gets home from work too. He just adores children.

My husband is a great father and community figure as well, and I hope you choose him for your Spotlight father because he deserves it and would be really surprised and shocked and probably even a little embarrassed! Thanks for your consideration,
Gina S."

(6/26/2007)"I would like to nominate my husband, Santiago D. He works full time so that I can stay at home with our 4 and 2 year old children, he works overtime and is on call at least once a month. If this wasn't enough he is also attending the University of Phoenix full time and not taking any breaks, as soon as one class ends he starts another the next day and he even has a straight A average, after doing it for a year. He never complains though and comes through the door with a smile everyday. If I have had a bad day with the kids he will bbq dinner for us and make it a special event with the kids helping make mommy her dinner as he says. He cleans the kitchen then gets our kids ready for bed, reads them their stories and tucks them in. After that there is a warm bubble bath waiting for mommy. We haven't been on a date in over 6 months between the kids, work and school but we know that him getting his degree and us raising our kids is most important. In his spare time we take the kids to the park or go help his mom do her yard work so she doesn't have to or we have family bbqs for the whole family. I have never met a more dedicated father or husband and would love for him to get some acknowledgment for his job well done.

Nick G. from West Phoenix

(6/14/2007)"I would like to nominate my husband, Nick G. He is an EMT Paramedic who would give his life for his children.

Nick and I have three (3) children - a 17 month old daughter, and 11 week old, twin boys. When Nick isn't working, he is being Super Dad! There is not a parenting task that he will not or can not do. Daddy and daughter are like two peas in a pod. He will cook for her, bathe her, dress her, take her shopping, teach her the alphabet, her numbers, how to do things, what things are called. He is really shaping our little princess into quite a wonderful toddler.

He is also wonderful with juggling the twins, especially when mommy needs a break. He has found a way to change them, feed them, and get them to sleep, without missing a beat or getting frustrated.

While at work, Nick is a Super Hero. He is a Paramedic because he loves to help people. His mission - Save Lives! He's got a wonderful bed side manner, and coupled with his knowledge of his profession, he makes for a wonderful, pre-hospital care taker.

As they say, 'to know him, is to love him.'

Best,
Andrea G."

(6/4/07) "Dear South West Valley parents, I want to nominate my husband and father of our two kids Sean. Sean and I have been married for 6 years as of July and we have 2 wonderful kids together ages 4 ½ and 1. He somehow manages to work full time, attend school full time, and still tucks both kids in every night without fail. All of his free time is spent at home with the family. He helps cook, bathe the kids, read bedtime stories, and get down on the floor and play. The most amazing thing about my husband is that he does all this without complaint and with a smile on his face knowing that he is sacrificing sleep now so that he will always be able to provide for us.

Thank-you

Kim"

Pat D. from Goodyear

"Dear SouthWest Valley Parents,

I would like to nominate my best friend and co-parent , Pat D. I met Pat 10 years ago as a divorced Mom with a 6 year old son Andrew and a 4 year old daughter Jessica. During that time, Pat was an EMT and volunteer firefighter going through the Police Academy. I was immediately drawn to his good morals, intelligence and great sense of humor.

The first night we met he watched The Lion King with my daughter who would not go to bed. He insisted my kids go with us on our first date which was a trip to the Aquarium where he practically bought out the gift shop! A week later, the first flowers he ever sent me were 3 roses, two yellow for the kids and one red for me with a card that read "Above and beyond anything else I want to be a best friend to 3 people"  and he most certainly has accomplished that goal.

For the past 10 years Pat has raised my children Andrew now 16, and Jessica age 14 as his own in addition to being an INCREDIBLE DAD to our 6 year old son Patrick. The relationship that Pat has with our son reminds me of the old tv show "The Courtship of Eddie's Father". Pat has managed to create the perfectly balanced amount of love, friendship, respect and discipline into his relationship with our son.  I have never seen a little boy shine so bright in the presence of his father as our son.  Pat enjoys taking Patrick everywhere. They go shopping, boating, swimming, to birthday parties, Early Bird Reading at school, and their favorite place Eatza Pizza!  They enjoy riding bikes together, playing XBOX together, going to Coyotes games together, watching movies together and snuggling.

During my pregnancy with our son Patrick, Pat's Mom became ill and Pat worked 3 jobs and sold his dream car so that I could stay home and take care of her and the children while he supported all of us under his roof. A roof that was constantly in need of repairs which he did with his own two hands. Pat's Mom died 2 months after our Patrick was born and it breaks my heart that she is not here to see what an amazing father he is to Patrick and the Dad that he didn't have to be to Andrew and Jessica but is in every way, shape and form.

2 years ago Pat moved us here to Goodyear, Arizona to give us a better life. We lived in the suburbs of Philadelphia where a 15 year old boy was shot on our street. Pat was working the night that boy was killed and he not only called home to make sure our kids were safe but called to check on the neighbors kids as well. It was then he promised us a better life and has fulfilled that promise beyond my wildest dreams!

Pat  drove us 2500 miles across country in a Uhaul and then returned to work in Pennsylvania, waiting for a transfer, flying here for a day or two when he could, working double and triple shifts, often sleeping on a cot at his work and did this for 8 months to ensure our safety and happiness in our beautiful new home. We were unpacking boxes and making friends in this beautiful weather while he sacrificed all his comforts to send us every penny he earned.

Pat is the kind of man who will stand up to any challenge, the kind of friend who is always there to help you move, fix your car, fix your house or just make you see the cup as half full. Recently, our son asked to play basketball for Estrella Youth Sports and even though Pat doesn't know the first thing about basketball and never much cared for the game, he jumped in with both feet not only educating himself about it but volunteering to be the Coach for Patrick's team.  The love that this man has not only for his child but for others is the reason why he has been my heart and soul for the past 10 years and is the reason why he truly is a SUPER DAD!

Sincerely,

Audrey M."

DALE K. from Goodyear

(Speical Event Page Graphics) DaleKfamily-175px.jpg(3/30/07) "When I think of a 'Super Dad,' I’m instantly reminded of my husband Dale, or throughout our community, better known as Coach Dale.

This year will be our 10 year Wedding Anniversary. He has given me so many things, but the most valuable blessing he has given me is our three children. Our oldest son, Tyler, is 8 years old. Our middle son, Travis, is 6. And our daughter Tessa, is 4. I asked them to describe to me what a 'Super Daddy' meant to them. Here’s what they said: Tyler responded, 'Daddy coaching me since I was little.' Travis responded, 'When Daddy takes me to the Phoenix Zoo.' And Tessa replied, 'When Daddy helps my teacher in my preschool class.' After that they finally caught on and the list went on and on. Then they asked me the very same question. Mom, why do you think he’s a 'Super Daddy?' I thought for a second, many different thoughts and memories came to mind. I replied, 'It would have to be how Daddy gives so much of his time to you three kids, and now, to all the other kids in our community.' When Daddy and Mommy got married, even before any of you were born, Daddy was coaching Little League in Buckeye. His passion for coaching hasn’t stopped.

Dale’s love for his three kids and their friends has given him the desire and enthusiasm to organize and begin a youth sports program called Estrella Youth Sports or EYS. Founded by Dale in November of 2006, he started what he thought would be a way for kids in Estrella Mountain Ranch to get together and play a little baseball, as well as, shoot some hoops. What he thought would be about twenty kids, grew to be 160+ kids our first season of EYS. What an unbelievable response we had gotten from the entire Estrella community. We’re now in our 'Spring Session' season and have registered 300+ children in a sport they really enjoy. And just when you think he’s running out of time, he finds more time to serve on the board as the President of Goodyear Little League.

I have never met anyone to be so giving and available with their time. His patience and kindness shine through and through. You can see the sparkle in his eyes and hear the excitement in his voice when you talk to him about his children. They enjoy when Daddy helps in their classrooms, has lunch with them regularly at Westar Elementary, and always finds time for one-on-one outings with Daddy.

If you asked Dale what his favorite thing about been a Daddy is, he’d probably say, 'when the kids tell me they love me.'

So as you can see, not only has the Lord Blessed us with a 'Super Daddy,' he’s also Blessed me with a 'Super Husband.

Thank You!

- Minnie K."
